Nicole
Murray is an illustrator, painter, sculptor,
musician and gardener who lives in Brisbane,
Australia. Blik is the first book she has
illustrated.
A
qualified art teacher, she was also a graphic
designer for ten years and the fruits of that
time include numerous CD covers and other
print work, and a strong aversion to working
for large mining companies.
She
has painted all the characters of the nativity
on condemned gas cylinders in renaissance
style, illustrated a childrens field
study workbook about
wetlands, worked as a chalkboard menu artist,
and is currently painting a series of works
about the Australian folk music scene.
She
performs regularly as a musician at major
folk festivals in Australia, including Woodford
and the National Folk Festival.
She
co-wrote and performed in the commedia delarte
style childrens show Tamlin
the Pantomime with her band, Baldrick
and the Cunning Plans.
She
writes songs. Her anglo-celtic and australian
vocal and instrumental duo, Cloudstreet, released
its well-received debut album in 2000 and
launched its second album in 2002.
The
weeds are winning in her garden.
